The MobileRSS app by NibiruTech combines two of my great loves into one – blogging & my iDevices. I’m subscribed to over 100 blogs and this super handy little app is perfect for keeping me up-to-date on all my favourite blogs on the go. It’s a very feature-rich app with an easy to use, uncluttered interface and simple navigation functions but you will require a Google account to be able to use it.
Upon opening the app, you’re greeted with a list of options to choose from including ‘All Items’ which contains all unread and read posts for easy viewing (I currently have 300+ to read!), the ‘Starred Items’ function where you can bookmark your favourite posts which you can then view later either online with Google Reader or within the app itself on your iDevice in online or offline mode – I use this feature if I need to view a certain blog post on the computer rather than on the phone – and the ‘Notes’ tab which displays any notes you’ve made on certain blog posts while viewing them within the app.

The MobileRSS app automatically syncronises with Google Reader which is linked to your Google account. If you’ve ever clicked ‘Follow’ on the Google Friend Connect box on a blog, their RSS feed is then added Google Reader and therefore also to this app but you can still manually add the URL for the feed you want to follow which you can do within the app itself. Many websites these days have an RSS feed so this app is a very convenient way to bring all your favourite blogs together in one place and makes it easy for you to keep updated on their new posts.
As mentioned previously, not only can you make notes on blog posts for viewing within the app, you can also take advantage of the social media integration by sharing the post via email, Twitter, Facebook and several other popular methods. Viewing blog posts with this app couldn’t be easier. When you read the bottom of one post, you simple swipe across to go to the next one. Opening the blog posts in this way does mark the post as read within your ‘All Items’ list.

The only thing I didn’t like about the app is the inability to comment on blog posts but you can open the actual blog in Safari from within MobileRSS and then comment from there so it’s not a major issue. There are two versions of this app available, the MobileRSS Free and MobileRSS Pro, with the only difference being the ads included in the free version.
I don’t have another RSS reader app to compare this one too as I’ve been more than happy with the reliable MobileRSS and haven’t found the need to source another one. I highly recommend it if you follow several blogs and want to save a bit of time by not having to visit them all individually on your iDevice.
