I first learned of Cygnett‘s Blast Portable Media Speaker through the keyword searches on theimum.com. There had been an unusually high amount of entries for this product so I had to discover what it was all about and why it was so popular. I emailed my ever-so-helpful contact at Cygnett and she informed me this new speaker system had only just come onto the market and was selling like the proverbial hotcakes! Cygnett then offered to send me two Blast speakers, one to test out and one to give away to a lucky reader of ours.
Colourful, powerful & maximising life’s volume button, the Blast not only plays your favourite tunes from your iPod, iPhone, computer, MP3 player, notebook & smartphone but also plays music directly off your USB drive or SD/MMC/MC card. Offering ultra-low bass stereo sound and on-speaker controls, the Blast features a built-in rechargable battery capable of setting your personal soundtrack to all life’s special on-the-go moments. Remote control operates volume, on/off and mute when speaker is connected to 3.5mm cable input. When connected to SD/MMC/MS card input or USB drive input, the remote operates all functions including ‘forward’ and ‘back’.
After having used the speaker for a few weeks now, I understand why it’s been so popular. When they say “big things come in small packages”, I think they were talking about this speaker as I have been blown away by the sound quality and volume this little gadget outputs. Most recently I have been using it while renovating my house as my iPhone speaker can’t quite be heard over the sander or drill but by attaching it to the Blast, I can hear my music or podcasts a LOT clearer. I also plan on taking it with us when we go touring in our new camper in a few months as at roughly the size of a standard tissue box, the Blast is the perfect solution to an audio system without having to install anything and without taking up much space.
The one thing I’d recommend though is to keep the Blast away from the kids as the speakers are uncovered and I’ve found my little ones poking at them on more than one occasion while watching the beats vibrate through. To find your nearest stockist of the Blast Portable Media Speaker, valued at RRP AU$69.95 , visit the Cygnett website and click ‘Where to buy’.

A Little Bit Stronger… by Sara Evans.
Woke up late today and I still feel the sting of the pain
But I brushed my teeth anyway
I got dressed through the mess and put a smile on my face
I got a little bit stronger
Riding in the car to work and I’m trying to ignore the hurt
So I turned on the radio, stupid song made me think of you
I listened to it for minute but I changed it
I’m getting a little bit stronger, just a little bit stronger
And I’m done hoping that we could work it out
I’m done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I’m done thinking that you could ever change
I know my heart will never be the same
But I’m telling myself I’ll be okay
Even on my weakest days
I get a little bit stronger
Doesn’t happen overnight but you turn around
And a month’s gone by and you realize you haven’t cried
I’m not giving you a hour or a second or another minute longer
I’m busy getting stronger

I get a little bit stronger
Getting along without you, baby
I’m better off without you, baby
How does it feel without me, baby?
I’m getting stronger without you, baby
And I’m done hoping we could work it out
I’m done with how it feels, spinning my wheels

Red red wine.. ;-)
At the moment loving a band called Bon Iver and their song Perth. Really chills me out, and would sound great on this speaker! ;)
