The iMums are usually all about the kids but with Mother’s Day upon us, we wanted to show our appreciation for all the mothers that follow us (that’s around 90% of you) so we have compiled a list of apps for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad that we think Mums would love. Overlay Camera by Minkyu Lee
Overlay Camera makes it easier to take before and after photos on your iPhone. It works by displaying a transparent overlay image of a photo you have taken previously so you can take another photo from the exact same location. Lately I have been using this app to take before and after shots of our recent home renovations but other interesting ideas would be taking a before and after photo of your new haircut using the forward facing camera or a daily/weekly/monthly photo of your child to see their growth over time as we all know just how fast they grow!

Typon by Greener Pastures
Typon allows you to, funnily enough, type on your images. Create unique, captioned compositions using pictures on your device, quickly and simply. You can choose from many different typefaces and have the ability to scale, rotate, change colors, and share your images via email, SMS or Facebook. I use Typon when I want to caption a funny image for uploading to Instagram or Facebook like the one below of my youngest son Tate.

Who doesn’t love a sale? I know I do but what I don’t like is trying to calculate the reduced price in my head. With the OnSale app, it does it for me quickly and easily from my iPhone. It features a very easy to use interface where you simply enter the actual cost and the percentage off and the app will display the discounted price of any product or service immediately. (This app came in very handy at a recent Myer sale I went to… Shhhh!)

If you’re anything like me, you have hundreds (OK, thousands) of photos on your iPhone but how can you share these photos with your friends and family without going through the tedious task of uploading them one at a time through the Facebook app? I have the layout for every room of my house saved in this app, with all measurements to scale so if I decide to move anything I know exactly where it can go and if it will fit. This app is perfect if you are about to embark on building or buying a home as you can choose a colour scheme and see how all your furniture will look before you move in. Theabsolute best part of this app the ability to actually “walk through” a 3D render the room as if you were there in person. The number of Mummy Bloggers are growing daily with many mothers wanting their own little piece of internet real estate to share their thoughts, dreams, and daily adventures. I am a huge fan of WordPress for it’s ease of use and wouldn’t use any other software to run my own blogs (like TheiMums.com). From within this app, you can moderate comments, create or edit posts and pages, and add images or videos quickly and easily from your iOS device. All you need is a WordPress.com blog or a self-hosted WordPress.org site and you’re good to go!

As a busy mother of three rambunctious boys under five, I grasp at any opportunity I can to streamline my day, including my fleeting time online. One of my favourite iPad apps for doing just that is Flipboard by Flipboard Inc. which introduces a whole new way to view your social feeds, news streams and blogs. Flipboard features a stunning, magazine-style display for flipping though your Facebook newsfeed, your Twitter timeline, blog posts from Google Reader, photos from Instagram and much, much more. I especially love that you can comment or like articles from Flipboard without the need to visit the actual app or site. Featuring a beautiful and simple to navigate user interface, Flipboard is perfect for aggregating all the information that is important to you in one innovative, easy to use app – and for saving you time!

Serving Sizer Recipe Cards Pro by Creative Algorithms
This app allows you to copy your recipes into a database where they are all easy to find and re-size as necessary. Once you have entered the recipe, you can change the serving size and the entire recipe is converted to the number of people you need to serve. I used this app on Thanksgiving and found it was very useful in sizing recipes down for my family, plus taking photos of the various creations was wonderful so I can pull up a recipe card and see what it is that I made via a photo.
