Marble MathMarble Math by Artgig Studios is a univeral math game aimed at children aged nine to twelve which helps to reinforce core math skills using a series of mazes to complete a variety of problems including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, denominators, improper fractions, roman numerals, factoring, decimals and negative numbers. After completing questions correctnly you can earn new marbles and collect a variety of bonuses while avoiding a variety of obsticles including the dreaded banana peel!

This app provided a great refesher for some math concepts I hadn’t used in a long time, I really enjoyed rolling the marbles or dragging them with my finger or stylus to complete the problems correctly. I also liked that the difficulty levels and marble styles made each game more fun and really liked that you could customize gameplay with specific concepts by selecting a variety of problem types which would be especially helpful for children struggling with a specific concept. The “random” mode allows the app to pick a variety of problems, which is great when trying to hit on a number of concepts.  I also liked the ability to tilt the iPad in order to play the game – it made it that much more challenging and fun to complete.

I thought the replay option and show the correct answer were great since they allowed you to understand what you were doing wrong. I would like to see this expanded to repeat this specific problem at the end of the game to reinforce the concept.  I also wish it had a “multi-player” option so you could set up multiple players to compete against each other in a friendly math gameplay!

This app is great for children who are learning math concepts and want to reinforce them in a game play method that is educational.  This would be a great app to practice math skills on a road trip, summer vacation, family competitions and more.
