Nosy Crow Launches Second Bizzy Bear App for Toddlers, “Bizzy Bear Builds a House” – News

London, June 20th, 2012 – Independent publisher Nosy Crow is pleased to announce that its Bizzy Bear Builds a House app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch is now available on the App Store. This interactive picture book app, recommended for children ages 2 to 4, is the second in a series of apps based on Nosy Crow’s popular Bizzy Bear board book series illustrated by Benji Davies.

Children can help Bizzy Bear build a house from beginning to end using a variety of vehicles including diggers, concrete mixers, dumper trucks and cranes. Using the touchscreen, they can also join in by sawing, hammering, digging and painting on the construction site.

The app features lively child voice-narration, original animation, signature Bizzy Bear music by BAFTA-winning composer Robin Beanland, word-tracking for highlighted read-along text, and interactive surprises in every scene.

“Bizzy Bear Builds a House, is a natural follow-up to our successful and highly acclaimed app, Bizzy Bear: On the Farm,” says Kate Wilson, Managing Director of Nosy Crow. “This time, we’ve focused on movement and machines, inviting children to interact with the exciting grown-up world of the building site. In this app, as in all of our apps, we’re encouraging children to link having fun with stories, and to link stories with text.

Bizzy Bear Builds a House is based on the Bizzy Bear book series published by Nosy Crow in the U.K. and by Candlewick Press in the U.S. The books include Bizzy Bear: Fun on the Farm; Bizzy Bear: Let’s Go and Play!; Bizzy Bear: Off We Go!; and Bizzy Bear: Let’s Get to Work.

The first app in the series, Bizzy Bear on the Farm, was released in December 2011. It received the Editor’s Choice Award from Children’s Technology Review and was shortlisted for the inaugural Bologna Ragazzi Digital Award.
