Tractor Mac Arrives at the Farm by Pic Pocket Books is the third in the Tractor Mac iPad series. This story features Sibley the Horse who lived on Stony Meadow Farm, he is joined by a large red tractor in the farmyard who is there to help with the daily chores. Tractor Mac introduces himself to the other farm animals, however, Sibley the horse begins to feel left out and concerned he is forgotten. One day, Farmer Bill needs Sibley’s help because Tractor Mac is stuck in the mud, going forward Tractor Mac and Sibley worked side by side and became great friends. This book, like the others in the series provides a great story about friendship, teamwork and helping others. This book, along with the others in the series is based upon the real Tractor Mac who lives in the author, Billy Steer’s barn in Connecticut and was given to him as a surprise shortly after the first Tractor Mac book was published.
My favorite part of the story is when Tractor Mac and Sibley work together to get Tractor Mac out of the mud since this shows how both Tractor Mac, Farmer Bill and Sibley can work together. This story like other versions has beautiful illustrations which complement the text. There are a variety of audio tidbits available within the story, which can be found by touching the pictures. During the “narrated mode” the story is read and the words are highlighted which is helpful for early readers.
Similar to the other books, I wish that the app had a little more interaction during the story since as a reader you can imagine the sounds. I do wish that the maps at the beginning of the text were repeated again at the end since they provide context to the characters, in this case Sibley the Horse and Tractor Mac.
The Tractor Mac series is a great way to teach your children about working together, sharing and friendship. The rich illustrations coupled with the stories provide a good reading experience and a helpful story. Two other books in this series include Tractor Mac: You’re a Winner and Tractor Mac Builds a Barn.

My twin boys have great trouble sharing their Daddy when he is moving the tractor from Grandpa’s to our place ….he doesn’t take two of them in the cab. We have to swap half way. They get so upset about having to wait a turn .
Of course I don’t let them in when he is using it to slash the paddock or work.
Trish you are a winner!
My twins love Tractors and the tractor mac books !
With twins sharing is a big issue – something they have to deal with everyday.Their car seats are a good example – they have the same seats but in different colors and they vie to see who gets to sit in each one every time , so they have to take turns,
We just love Tractor Mac, and I would love to see this one. Sharing….well, always an issue with a special needs guy…..so these books about sharing are great to help him understand. Thank you for the chance.
Tea you are a winner. Watch your email

My children ages almost 7, almost 5 and 2 LOVE tractors…it may have something to do with Daddy being a farmer, and growing up on a farm :) My oldest is just learning to drive one of the small tractors himself, and of course they are always helping Daddy! We always have a big jug of sweet tea on hand, and the kids love grabbing something from the garden to snack on :) We always have something do!
