Ramadan Mubarak Happy Ramadan! by Over the Moon Stories is a beautifully illustrated story for young children designed to teach them about the Muslim month of fasting.  In the story, children will learn about Ramadan and Eid while reading the story, hearing a variety of Islamic words, playing a game and hearing the beautifully sung “Whisper of Peace” sung by Chris McKhool.  Over the Moon stories is written by Suzanne Muir who is a Muslim Teacher and mother of three young children in Canada.

I really liked that the app allowed me to introduce my son to a new culture via an interactive storybook with gorgeous illustrations.  The app was presented simply enough for him to understand the concepts of why fasting was an important part of the Muslim culture.  The app also helped us work on skills such as sharing, understanding others and being accepting of a variety of diverse characters.

I would like to see the links to social media hidden or at least require a “double tap” to prevent children from accidentally accessing them.  It would also be nice to have the option to turn off the music as well to help children concentrate on the story.

This is a great app to help your children learn about diverse populations, Ramadan and fasting as well as the ability to learn about the Muslim population.  This app is best for children toddlers to early school age.  Free coloring pages are available to complement the app as well.
