If you aren’t already familiar with Etsy, the largest online marketplace for homemade goodness, then maybe you shouldn’t read this article. It’s highly addicting. If it weren’t for my lack of funds and children to entertain, I could quite happily spend the day on Etsy browsing through the fabulous products and with the introduction of the brand new Etsy iPhone app, you can now purchase items or sell your wares on the go.
“
Buy directly from independent, creative businesses. Explore over 11 million unique items from small businesses all over the world. The Etsy app for your iPhone or iPod gives you one-touch access to the world of Etsy. As a buyer, you can search for handmade and vintage items, browse Treasury Lists, and make purchases from your mobile device. As a seller, you can access your listings and latest orders, and use merchant tools to manage your business on the move. With seamless mobile integration of your cart, favorites, purchase history, and shop, the app is a streamlined extension of your online Etsy experience.”
This app allows buyers to search through and purchase from a catalogue of 11 million handmade products available including clothing, handbags, baby items, toys, quilts and the like, using credit card or PayPal, review their entire purchase history and also share their favourite products via social networking, MMS or email. Sellers can manage their store, check current orders, update their listings and also opt-in to get a notification when someone places an order.
The Etsy app for iPhone, also compatible with iPod Touch and iPad (using 2x mode), gives you one-touch access to the wonderful world of Etsy and offers a streamlined extension of your online Etsy experience via a visually appealing, user- friendly interface. You’ll find the app for free on the App Store.
As yet there is no native iPad app for Etsy but a big favourite of mine is I Heart Etsy by Gesture Theory which allows you to log in to your Etsy account to give you access to your favourites items, stores or treasures, add items to your cart, browse through the many categories of beautiful products and much more, all while offering you the best browsing experience making the most of the iPad’s retina display.
I have several favourite stores on Etsy, most of which create fabulous and funky accessories for the iPad and iPhone such as La Main Fleur, wendyandbens, TomoLtd and more. If you decide to order from these stores, be sure to tell them The iMums sent you. I hereby take no responsibility for any Etsy addictions formed as a result of this post!

This is cruel! I love etsy. Thank goodness you can’t use it on the iPad so I am safe. I spend enough.
