The “Numberlys” by Moonbot Studios (who also brought us the highly acclaimed app “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore”) is a delightfully quirky app for children, that incorporates adventure, mystery, education, game, short film and story book all in one.
Set in a somewhat futuristic looking world, where there is no colour only black and white, and no letters only numbers, we meet five friends who work in the number factory, who are determined to create something more, something different.
One night, they stay behind in the factory and with our help (by way of games incorporated into the story), they work through the night to create and name each letter of the alphabet. Once they have completed the alphabet, they release the letters out into their world, where words, colours and names are created.
The app is aimed at the over fours, but even then it is a little long (although there is actually an intermission half way through). The short film aspect is amazing, and we found it very appealing. The language and story component are fun, and really quite educational. The games range from very simple to somewhat difficult to understand or master, but we have found them to be enjoyable. And the concept is wonderfully artistic and inspiring both to children and adults.
I can see the Numberlys being enjoyed in our home for some time to come, both as entertainment and an educational tool.

this app looks so interesting… i think my kids would love to read/play along!
I would like this app for my 5 year-old daughter. I’ve been eyeing it for a while but thought she was a little young for it. I think she’s ready now. Looks very well done.
love the idea that the app is more than just a book, or game or learning, all mixed into 1
It sounds like something my autistic daughter would enjoy since it involves the alphabet, colors, and solving problems. She needs things like this to be simple to follow them and this looks like it might work for her.
I would use this with my two children and my students.
The app sounds amazing. My daughter loves the interactive elements of any storybook app, so this would be for her.
Would be great for my kids.
I would love to share this with my class!!
I would like this app because it looks unlike any I’ve seen. My daughter and students would love it.
It sounds like Nichole would enjoy the “old” tone without color but educational entertainment as well!
My girls love new ebooks; I love the idea of having a qwirky book/game app in one!
I would love to see my kids play with this app. They are old enough to sit for long periods of time and it looks fun!
Just gorgeous!
I would be giving this app to my 5 year old as it sounds like something he would enjoy.
I will keep this app for my children. I have seen promos for it and it looks brilliant. I loved flying books so I am sure this one will be just as good
I would use this app on my son’s iPad. We really enjoy Flying Books and this would be a great interactive book to have as well.
It’s much more highly produced than most ebooks so visually very eye catching.
I would use this app with my niece!
