Review by Alison
What we love…
the ability to take ordinary colors of life and turn them into a fun and interactive experience by having to find them and put them into the different coloring books
What we’d love to see…
the ability to take photos from the camera roll or ones taken at a different point in time and use colors from those
Summary
This is a great app for adults and children alike. The app encourages you to stretch your imagination and see color in ways that you never imagined.
Our Rating

Colbypic allows you to explore the world in a new way, using colors and textures along with the camera on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to take photos of your favorite things and color in one of sixty different pictures within this app. This app helps to spur creativity and thinking outside of the box as well as integrates art, photography and imagination while making activities fun.
I liked this app because it allowed me to take what I had taught my son about color and mix it up by having him show me all of his favorite items with the colors in the app. The app really took what he had learned visually and brought it to a whole different dimension as my son was able to demonstrate his understanding of colors and textures. We played with this app at a local botanical garden and got some really neat textures and colors to use within the app. I also like d the ability to email the colored in photos from within the app making it easy to share creations with others. Cobypic is able to take the ordinary and turn it into the extraordinary with color while making it fun and interactive for young and old. The creativity that I saw with my son and others who tested the app helped him go from, an apple is red to finding the colors out in real life and pointing them out to me. He helped me to see colors in his own eyes by using the camera function on my iPhone to snap photos.
In terms of enhancements, one I would like to see is the ability to take pictures from your camera roll and zero in on a specific color so you can do a Cobypic at a different time than “at the moment.” I would also like it if there was a way to “force” children to complete the picture before being able to exit it and move on to the next one – we made ours a bit of a scavenger hunt especially for the ones that had larger amounts of colors which made using the app really fun as we adapted the “Let’s find game” from what we could see to make it a play on color. Another enhancement would be the ability to “color” in the picture in the app with a stylus after you have added all the colors rather than having it pre-filled in for you. It would also be interesting if the different pictures had textures similar to textured papers and acted differently than traditional white backgrounds.
We also recently had a chance to interview Ben from CobyPic and learn more about his app, be sure to check out the interview for more insight on how the app was created. If you want to look at color in an entirely different way, I’d encourage you to download Cobypic and take it to the next level.

Thanks for the review Alison & thanks for the feedback vimaples!
We’ll definitely look into this as a future feature, as it’s definitely a great idea, especially when you’re on a train or someplace where “exploration” isn’t as encouraged.
Hope you keep having fun and to keep improving for you :)
