Trabasack Curve Connect Lap Desk and Bag
The Trabasack Curve Connect is a lap desk and travel bag with a firm flat tray surface on one side and a removable bean bag cushion on the other. It comes with straps that allow you to carry it different ways- as a backpack, messenger bag or shoulder bag.
The flat surface works as a desk to hold your iPad, laptop, writing materials, book, food or whatever you need a portable desk surface for. It has a soft, slightly padded surface covering that velcro sticks to. The bag has dual zippers with strong round easy to pull rings. Inside there is a main compartment and a separate zippered compartment that holds a removable beanbag.
The manufacturer also makes a Media Mount that works with the curve connect, it is basically a long, flexible, snake-like object that has velcro on one side. You can put this around an iPad or or kindle and the velcro will hold it in place. It can also stick it to itself to make a book support or wrap it around a water bottle or remote control.
I have had the Trabasack for a couple of months now and find myself using it all the time. At home when I’m sitting in a chair working on my laptop I find it very comfortable to work on. A thirteen or fifteen inch laptop both work well on it – they sit on the raised edge of the tray which allows air to circulate to keep them cooler. I regularly use it when using my iPad also and for reading a book. I have taken it with me when travelling and used it on a long train journey. I was able to carry my iPad, book, writing materials and a few snacks inside the bag, then use it to read and work on during the journey. The curved shape fits comfortably around my waist, and strapping it in place gives extra peace of mind that it won’t fall off my lap. Occasionally I find I want to carry more than I can fit in the bag, but removing the beanbag gives quite a lot of extra room. The lap tray is not quite as comfortable without the beanbag but is still functional.
The Trabasack is very well made and looks like it will stand up well to use. Apart from a little fluff stuck to the tray surface, it is still in excellent condition after a few months use. All of the components are of a high quality and I especially like the strong easy to use zip pulls. It is very useful as a portable desk for using a laptop, iPad, reading or writing on. It has been designed to work well for wheelchair users and would also be useful for children in a car seat or stroller giving them a surface to eat from or play on. A well designed product highly recommended.
