What we love…
I love the entire setup and content of this application. Conversations are difficult for all teens and this application covers many topics that are prevalent today. I love the parental controls and that when working in choice mode it is explained why some choices would not be appropriate.
What we’d love to see…
I would like to be able to pick specific conversations to play in the order I want.
Summary
This is an excellent app that I will use in speech therapy a lot with my older clients, from the beginning stages right up to the students dismissal. I love that I will be able to show the parent clips of progress along the way!
Our Rating

Mobile Education Store has done it again with their latest app Conversation Builder Teen! This company develops iPhone and iPad apps for families and educators to help children learn sentence structure and narrative skills and currently have 11 apps listed on their website. It was started by the father of a child with special needs, who found existing special education software to be lacking the variety in content and engaging play, to hold his daughters attention. He wanted programs his daughter WANTED to play! Mobile Educations Store’s latest app, Conversation Builder Teen, is a conversation stimulator designed to help teenage children learn how to have multi-exchange conversations with their peers in a variety of settings, it is designed for use with students from age 1o-17-years-old.

Before I tried out this app I gave it to my 12 year old daughter to play with while I was completing a few things. She was able to navigate the app without any trouble and really enjoyed playing it. in fact she disappeared with the iPad for an hour before she returned it. As a parent I always worry about my daughters relationship with peers. She is very shy and does not begin relationships. We just moved 6 months ago and she is having trouble making new friends so it was great to see her working with this app. It gave me a lot of information about her skills. I love the tutorial as it goes step by step through the program. I love that the company added some controversial conversations with parental controls to allow or disallow conversations about smoking, alcohol and drugs. As a therapist I can turn off these conversations but really appreciated being able to give my daughter access to practice these skills. I love that there are two modes of play. One with choices for beginning conversations and an open mode play that can be done in a group setting. I love that your own pictures can be imported in open mode play. this could get very creative with some of my groups. Once completed conversations can be played, saved and emailed!

I would like to be able to choose which conversations I want to play in the category. Currently the program goes through the conversations and you can skip it but I would like to jump to specific conversations immediately.
Overall as a therapist I love this application! We need more apps like this. I see it being beneficial for many of my students and think all school counselors should also know about this app. As a parent of an average 12 year old daughter I loved this app as well, but don’t think I would pay 29.99 for it. Now if she really struggled with peer relationships I would definitely purchase it!
Many apps fall short of my expectations because I am used to SLP apps which offer so much more. This app gets my 5 star rating!

Lisa Maislin. I work in an inclusive school board with many students with ASD. We have a very limited budget and this app would be fantastic …
I’d love to use this with the older students on my caseload.
Would love to win this app!
What a great tool to use in assessments and therapy!
I teach ESL mostly to children who are preparing to emigrate from my country, The Netherlands, to an English speaking country. I could use this app to help the teenagers prepare for conversations in English. That way they will build confidence in social situations in a strange environment.
By the way, Suzanne, my compliments on your first review. It was clear and pleasant to read! Thank you for that!
I ‘ d love to win this to try with older students. I have ConversationBuilder, and younger students really love using it.
my daughters are moving into middleschool next year and they LOVE these conversation builder apps!
This would be a great addition to my therapy materials, as I am an SLP in the public schools working with children on the spectrum.
It’s a very helpful tool
I would like to win because I am an SLP who work with autistic high school students, and this looks like an app that would be great to use with them.
I would love to use this with some of my middle school students!
I would love to use this with some of my speech and language students.
Conversation Builder Teen is the only Mobile Ed App that I don’t have yet. The quality of these apps and the ability to “app-dapt” for different educational uses is phenomenal.I love MobileEdStore Apps
I would love to win this app because coming up with engaging tasks for adolescents is daunting! There is nothing that will motivate them. I think this app would be great to use with my pragmatic clients, as well as speech. This app will help create scripts that will give older kids with speech disorders more confidence when talking with their peers! I hope I get the chance to use this awesome app!
