What we love…
sturdy case for normal wear and tear, easy access to the buttons on your iPhone, easy to use and charge while in the case
What we’d love to see…
better instructions for installation of the case, an integrated screen protector and covering of the home button
Summary
I would say this case is more for a parent using their phone rather than letting their young child use their device. It did the job of keeping my iPhone safe and secure during a variety of weather conditions including: snow, rain, sleet, windy days and more. I have been using the case for just over a month and have been satisfied with it’s protection.

If you are anything like me, you like to know that your iPhone is protected before you use it or allow your child to use it. I tried many cases on my iPhone 4s before trying the Otterbox Commuter Case supplied by MobileFun. Overall, the case was easy to install once I had a chance to review the “how to video” online as the enclosed instructions were not that helpful during the installation. The case fit snugly to my iPhone and seemed to provide good protection to the various ports, covers and other areas. The case comes in two parts, one is a flexible “inner shell” and the other is a harder outer shell. I did not use the screen protector as I already had one installed on my phone. When the two are put together it offers a snug fit and is not slippery in your hand while fitting easily into your pocket.
The case provides protection for the back of your phone for normal wear and tear along with minor drops. I did not experience a major drop while using the case, but for a minor (2 foot drop from a pocket to a desk) the case did just fine. The buttons were easy to access inside the flaps and it was not a problem to charge the phone while in the case.
One thing that Otterbox should do with this case is cover the home button and provide a better integrated screen protector. I worried whenever I let my son use my phone, because what would happen if he did drop it. He did drop it once, and I felt very lucky that the screen remained intact on the phone with no scratches, damages or dings. I also found that grit and grime was able to get inside the corners of the case and therefore onto the edges of the front of my iPhone – this was something that was easily cleaned off every week or so, but must be done to ensure the screen does not get scratched. I also wish it included a holster so I could clip it on my pants, but suspect this was not included so the case would more easily fit in my pocket. I also wasn’t sure why Otterbox didn’t provide at least a little bit of protection for the Apple as it made it

Well written review, Alison. Thanks! I think you’ve confirmed my choice for us to stick with LifeProof cases for all of our 4S’s. We don’t have to worry about things like saliva (or worse) getting into any of the ports of the iPhone and shorting it out. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but for the protection it gives, I was able to say “no, thank you” to paying for Apple Care.
