Like many iPhone users and busy moms, one of my biggest fears is drops to my iPhone that might damage the screen. I recently installed the Pure Premium Glass Screen protector on my iPhone 4s to put it to the test. The protector is laid over your existing screen on your iPhone which provides scratch prevention, impact, heat and chemical resistance while providing a clear protector that does not smear. It also features anti-shatter to reduce the risk of injury just in case your screen is broken in error.
In the month I’ve been using the Pure, my iPhone has survived a number of drops including one where I put my iPhone on the trunk of my husband’s car while buckling my son in. I got into the car and thought I had my phone and started backing out of the garage before I realized that I didn’t have it. The phone fell about six feet and was fine, no scratches, dings dents or any indication of use. I did install the protector under a Cygnett case protector as well, so I am sure the two worked together well. I know my son when using my iPhone dropped it a couple of times as well, but I could not see any indications of damage to the screen.
In terms of improvements, I did find that the directions for installation were a bit confusing as I was concerned if I installed Pure incorrectly I might not be able to get it off. The first time I installed I had a slight bubble which I was able to fix and reposition in order to use the protector. I tried to find a video of how to install the product, and couldn’t find one so that would be a helpful improvement in the future.
To install the Screenguardz first you need to clean the iPhone Screen throughly using the included screen cleaning cloth. It is important to remove all traces of dust and they include some dust removal stickers to help with any stubborn dust specks. Line up the holes for the home button and microphone and just drop the screen protector on. It is much easier to get bubble free than any plastic screen protector I’ve used, and there is no messy liquid involved. Once you put it on it will spread where it has stuck by itself just leaving you to press out any stray bubble (there was only one when installing mine).
The screen protector was much less prone to fingerprint smudges than others I’ve used and has great touch sensitivity
Overall, the car drop test impressed me the most although it was unintentional. I was very glad to see my iPhone 4S intact with no damage to the screen or the case and love how clear the protector is and that it prevents fingerprints. I would definitely recommend this protector to others in the future. While I don’t recommend intentionally dropping your iPhone this screen protector gave me piece of mind knowing that just in case I was protected.
