Today’s interview is with Michał Kucharczyk of Hoglet Studio.  Please visit their website, Facebook and Twitter pages.

Thank you for participating our interview. Please tell us a little about yourself.

We are small – two persons – family studio that develops apps for kids. We do that because it brings a lot of joy and light into our and your lives.

How did the idea for your app come about?

We saw a lot of cool apps for kids and we simply wanted to add one more. Our idea was to build an interactive world where kids can grow its creativity.

And how long was the process from the original idea to the release of the app?

“It is difficult to say – the original idea evaluated from an open story/world to a number of small levels developing different usual skills in early childhood. Finally it was designed to help children develop logical thinking by having fun with interactive, logical sequences.

It took 8 months from initial sketches to app in App Store.”

Did you hire a developer or do it yourself?

Coding, graphics and animations were done by ourselves. We hired music composer and sound effects specialist.

What has been the hardest obstacle you have had to overcome in the development process?

Despair during the development process, especially during short winter days.

Have you had much support during the development process (from family, peers, Apple Inc.)?

We had great support from our family and our beta testers.

What are your plans for the future? Will you be developing any more apps?

At least one more 🙂

What sort of feedback has your app been receiving so far?

It seems that people like it. We’ve heard a lot of positive opinions.

And finally, what advice would you give to anyone considering creating their own app?

“Be prepared for great adventure, hard work, long hours and big satisfaction at the end of project.

Try to think in terms of developing base for next applications. Think re-usability first.”

Thank you so much for talking with us today and sharing a bit about your company.  We really appreciated the chance to get to know you!

Alison, the American iMum is from Massachusetts. She lives there with her two sons and husband. In their spare time, they enjoy playing outside, enjoying nature and of course testing apps and fantastic products on their devices. My older son loves technology and loves testing out the “latest and newest” apps and tech. I love sharing information about apps and products with others to help them make decisions without feeling overwhelmed with all of the choices.
