Summer mornings just got exciting with the Macca’s Prize Alarm app!

With summer now upon those of us in the southern hemisphere, it’s time for sunshine and fun with friends and family. I can recall many wonderful holidays as a child but my favourite summer moments were the ones spent at my grandparents beach house near Bribie Island, Queensland, floating on the ocean in my grandfathers boat or relaxing on the sand with a homemade picnic lunch made by my grandmother (her ANZAC biscuits were to die for). Now that I have a family of my own, we spend our summers kayaking and swimming in the river or chilling out in our backyard under the sprinkler with water pistols and icy poles.

Summer mornings in tropical north Queensland are a bit of a challenge with the temperature reaching almost 30oC before breakfast time. However, waking up each morning this summer is going to be fun with the Macca’s Prize Alarm App; an app that allows you to seize the day through exciting summer fun with 4 million prizes to be won! With the chance to win with a daily alarm set, prizes up for grabs including food prizes, cameras, watches, a skateboard, a helicopter flight, vouchers, attraction passes, gift cards and loads more. That’s enough incentive for me to get out of bed!

The Macca’s Prize Alarm App works by setting a daily alarm where you can choose to be woken up at your desired time by a variety of different sounds or your own tones. The flexible alarm settings allow you to choose the days of the week you’d like to repeat your alarm. Your phone has to be on for the alarm to work so it can’t be in flight mode or “do not disturb” mode and it also shouldn’t be on silent. The app also features a virtual wallet to store any prize you’ve won and more or if you don’t wish to keep these to yourself, you can gift them to your Facebook friends that also have the app via the in-app gifting feature (you must connect the app to your Facebook account first). You have the chance to win an exciting surprise every day you set the alarm but you’re only one to win one surprise each day. It is not mandatory for you to go into a McDonald’s restaurant to participate in this campaign but you will need to visit in the event that you win to claim your prize.

You won’t want to hit that snooze button again once you find out what Macca’s have in store for you when you wake up with their free Prize Alarm app, available on the Apple AppStore or Google Play. Terms and Conditions apply. Share your favourite summer moments in the comments below!

TripSafe Cable Cover for Carpet – Review

What we love…

Simple to use; practical; reusable and can be washed.

What we’d love to see…

More variety of colours.

Summary

If you are looking for a simple solution to securing loose cables, this is a quality product made for the job.

recommended-by-the-imums

We’ve all had issues with having to run cables across the floor at one time or another. I know I have resorted to taping cables to the floor or carpet with duct tape but not only did that work for just a short period of time, it also left an awful mess on the floor and the cable! This handy new product from Australian company TripSafe eliminates the potential danger involved with tripping over loose cables by containing them under a safe and secure cover. The product I tested from their range was the Tripsafe™ Cable Cover for Carpet (11cm x1.8m) in yellow and I found it did a great job of securing a cable I had running across my lounge room floor in a high traffic area. This product would be perfect not only for use in the home but also in a school or work environment or event setting where cables are required to be run for computers, microphones, etc. It is machine-washable and can be reused over and over again.

At the time of writing this review, the TripSafe carpet cable cover only came in yellow and grey. I would love to see some neutral colours brought into the mix that better matched the colour of the carpet, for the cables that don’t requiring moving very often. TripSafe are dedicated to making your home or work environment safer by eliminating tripping hazards. They offer a range of other products including covers for hard floors and cable wraps. The TripSafe Cable Cover for Carpet retails at AU$36.25 and carries a 12 month warranty, as with all their products, if you are unhappy with the product for any reason. If you are looking for a simple solution to securing loose cables, this is a quality product made for the job.

30 Days of Thermomix Meals by One Crafty Mum

This is a repost from iMum Amanda’s personal blog, One Crafty Mum, where she writes about her kids, craft projects and her cooking experiments with the Thermomix.

Meal planning has been working fabulously for my household but it’s becoming a bit of a chore to sit down once a week and find something new to add to the list which prompted me to start this list of one month’s worth of Thermomix meals (mostly made up of my previous meal plans). By knowing what’s for dinner each night, it takes a lot of the stress out of my day and if the boys ask what we’re having, I can tell them straight up and no longer have to say “I have no idea!”. I’m still met with the occasional whine and groan if it wasn’t what they were expecting but they soon get over it.

This meal plan is designed to help you but it’s not set in concrete so feel free to mix it up however you like. If you’re feeling super-duper organised and you have the time, you could even cook many of these dishes and freeze them to save even more time in the evening. Enjoy!
